HSEQ Engineer


 BW Offshore is recruiting an HSSEQ Engineer as part of the team supporting Espoir operations in Abidjan. The position will be based in our Aberdeen office.


Keys Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance advice and support to Fleet units and offices
  • Administer BWO HSEQ reporting systems as directed by Head of Department
  • Participate in HSEQ standards and performance improvement programmes
  • Monitor Fleet operational compliance to national and international HSEQ, standards and legislation
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of HSEQ manuals, procedures, forms and operating instructions for Fleet
  • Assist with the development of e-learning modules on HSEQ subjects
  • Review incident reports and assist to identify contributing and root causes and actions to enable effective close-outs
  • Monitor incident cases and report on developing trends
  • Review observation cards for trends and escalation to Synergi Case
  •  Develop internal HSE Alerts
  • As appropriate, approve or reject Management of Change and Deviation Requests from an HSEQ perspective
  • Provide assistance in the Vendor HSEQ Pre-Qualification, Qualification and Performance Management
  • Assist with the development of safety cases and performance standards
  • Plan and carry out internal audits in accordance with the BW Offshore Supervisory Plan
  • Participate in HAZIDs, HAZOPs and safety studies
  • Participate in Formal Safety Assessments
  • Participate in Formal Incident Investigations
  • Represent BW Offshore with consultants, authorities and clients on HSEQ matters when required


  • Diploma in Mechanical, Environmental, Technical, Marine or Process Engineering
  • Formal qualifications in health and safety management
  • Relevant experience may replace formal qualifications


  •  Minimum 5 year’s experience in the offshore FPSO industry
  •  Procedures and documentation development and review
  •  Internal auditing

  •  Quality management processes;
  •  Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality aspects in an operational environment
  •  International standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001, ISM and ISPS Codes
  •  Classification Society and Flag State rules and regulations, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, etc


  •  Able to travel to offshore locations and in-country base offices
  •  Able to obtain OGUK or equivalent medical clearance and BOSIET certification
