HSEQ Manager - Field Development

 BW Offshore is recruiting for an HSEQ Manager - Field Development. This a permanent position that will be based in our office in Aberdeen.



Personal Accountability

  • Responsible for developing and implementing HSEQ Assurance Plans for Field Developments during the project phase, and for installation, drilling and de-commissioning campaigns during the operations phase.
  • Responsible for implementing a HSE Charter for the project phase and for campaigns (i.e. installation, drilling and de-commissioning) during the operations phase.
  • Responsible for the Risk Management process throughout the project phase of Field Developments.
  • Responsible for HSE Performance monitoring of subsea and subsurface systems during the operations phase of Field Developments.
  • Directly responsible for management of compliance to regulations related to the Field, and responsible for interfacing with the FPSO contractor to verify compliance of the facility, noting that demonstration of compliance of the FPSO to the regulations is the responsibility of the FPSO contractor. This responsibility is applicable to project, operations and de-commissioning phases.
  • Responsible for Emergency Response arrangements for the Field during installation, operations and de-commissioning. Responsibility for Emergency Response arrangements for the facility remain with the FPSO contractor, however they must bridge to the Field arrangements.


  •  Prepares a HSEQ Assurance Plan for each new Field Development project and subsequent offshore campaign (i.e., installation, drilling and de-commissioning).
  •  Coordinates Assurance activities as per the HSEQ Assurance Plans (including ensuring close-out of all resultant actions). The Assurance activities include, but are not be limited to, the following:
                - HSE reviews, e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, Constructability, etc.
                - Key Milestone reviews
                - Audits of internal HSEQ related processes, and of key HSEQ requirements related to sub-contractor activities
  •  Prepares HSE Charters and ensures sign-off and awareness throughout the Field Development project phase.
  •  Prepares Project Risk Register and conducts quarterly Risk Workshops to ensure that all risks are identified with mitigating and corrective actions assigned.
  •  Ensures that all actions required by the Project Risk Register are implemented by the assigned parties.
  •  Develops and implements a process to monitor HSE Performance (KPI’s and others) of the Field once in operation, and follows up when HSE targets are not being met.
  •  Single point of contact to the regulator(s) related to HSE.
  •  Ensures compliance to all relevant regulations throughout the project and operations phases. This will take the form of compliance demonstration on an intermittent basis



As a minimum:

  •  Master’s degree in Engineering or HSEQ related major
  •  Major Emergency Management Initial Response


  •  Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry
  •  Previous experience working in a similar role for an Oil Company
  •  Previous experience working in a multinational environment is desirable
