Offshore HSE Superintendent

BW Offshore is looking for 2 Offshore HSE Superintendents for our new unit which will start operation offshore Gabon during Q3 of 2018. The successful candidates are expected to join as soon as possible and the rota will be 5 weeks on and 5 weeks off. 

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure, in conjunction with the OIM, that the Emergency Response Plan is followed during an emergency and during emergency drills
  • Ensure that incident investigations are performed according to the valid procedure
  • Monitor that all activities subject to a Permit to Work are properly risk assessed
  • Ensure that all risks identified through risk assessments are properly communicated to the workforce carrying out the work activities, and those directly affected by the work activities
  • Arrange Emergency Response Drills, maintenance of associated records and timely rectify drill report actions
  • Monitor HSE performance on board and introduce measures to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all HSE concerns are raised in a timely manner with offshore management and onshore support functions
  • Maintain adequate understanding of Major Accident Hazards amongst the personnel onboard the unit
  • Leverage the onboard personnel to constantly look for hazards as part of their daily activities
  • Provide Health, Safety and Environmental support and leadership to the offshore organisation as required by the OIM
  • Provide support to the OIM in all HSE matters
  • Carry out HSE related duties as directed by the OIM.  These may include, but not be limited to, the following:
    • Actively engage with the elected safety representatives in promoting safety awareness 
    • Manage induction and safety familiarisation for persons arriving on the asset
    • Conduct HSE related training
    • Lead periodic Safety Meetings
    • Lead and promote safety campaigns

Qualification requirements


  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Major Emergency Management Initial Response


  • 10 years’ experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry
  • Previous experience working in a similar role on an offshore facility, preferably on an FPSO
  • Previous experience working in a multinational environment is desirable
