Accounting Controller

BW Offshore is looking for an Accounting Controller to join our Finance department to support our operating fleet of FPSO-vessels.

The Accounting Controller’s main function is to play a vital role in providing accounting advisory support to operations and projects, as well as support with budget which is used for financial controlling of our operations. We are seeking an independent person with ambition to learn and to contribute to our global team, and the right candidate has a keen eye for details, as well as excellent prioritizing skills.

The position will be located in Oslo and report to Vice President Finance - APAC/EUR/AFR.


Key tasks and responsibilities

  • General accounting in accordance with applicable laws and accounting standards
  • Coordinate monthly closing activities and ensure timely financial closing and reporting
  • Responsible for accounting of assigned companies, including monitoring activities of debtors and creditors such as: charters, agents, crew and suppliers
  • Overall responsibility to follow up balance sheet reconciliations for all assigned companies
  • Responsible for issuing invoices to the clients as related to current contracts
  • Direct liaison with external auditor, and prepare financial statements including notes to the accounts
  • Responsible for compliance with local laws and regulations in the areas of corporate compliance, accounting standards, taxes, statutory reporting / filing and corporate governance, in the respective countries
  • Maintain internal accounting procedure and business processes, and review and improve routines as required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics/Accounting or other relevant major
  • Long relevant experience may replace formal education
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience from a multinational company, especially within the offshore or shipping industry is an advantage, but not a requirement

Interpersonal Skills

  • Good interpersonal skills, and desire to work in a truly multinational team where many of your colleagues will be in an office in another country
  • Able to work independently, systematically and structured within given deadlines
  • Organised and meticulous to details, while still being able to see the bigger picture


  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience with ERP systems is a requirement, IFS experience is an advantage
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • French is an advantage, but not a requirement
