Electrical Engineer

BW Offshore is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Asset, Engineering and Maintenance (AEM) team. The successful candidate will actively contribute, and provide technical and advisory support to, the Offshore Management Team in regards to electrical systems and relevant regulatory requirements, reporting to the Engineering Manager – Asset Operations.  

This position is an onshore position and will be based in Darwin, Northern Territory.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver electrical engineering services required during pre-operation, commissioning, start-up, and later operational phases.
  • Ensure technical assurance, quality control, and operational integrity of project and engineering documentation.
  • Support and execute the company’s engineering and business strategies, driving safe, sustainable, and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
  • Manage systems for recording, analysing, and investigating performance data to continuously improve operations.
  • Review and provide the engineering solutions for Management of Change Request from Facilities as per procedure.
  • Manage and spearhead electrical contractors, vendors, and junior engineers both on-site and remotely.
  • Conduct engineering-based risk assessments related to electrical engineering, testing, maintenance and project needs.
  • Support engineering activities such as design, calculations, and drawing development in accordance with BW Offshore standards.
  • Review the Shutdown / Breakdown Reports and verify / carry out Root Cause Analysis.
  • Participate in key project reviews (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and safety in design workshops) related to Barossa project.
  • Support Technical Maintenance and Operations Support teams, as and when required, including visiting the Unit as needed for technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor on a continuous basis that the unit performs within the relevant performance standards.

Qualifications

  • You will hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, or similar.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred but not essential.
  • 8 years+ experience in electrical engineering design technical and operation support
  • Previous offshore/FPSO experience through conceptual design, commissioning and operational support. 
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable Australian and Internation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in electrical systems, design, selection of equipment and installation for hazardous areas
